Back at the end of 2024, Jessie reached out with the most exciting idea. They wanted to plan a secret wedding — just the two of them, no one else knowing, with the beautiful surprise of announcing their marriage at what everyone thought would be their engagement party. I absolutely loved the romance and secrecy of it all. There was something so pure about stripping it back to just the two of them and the love they share.
This also happened to be my very first wedding. The first time someone entrusted me with the honour of documenting their most important day, their vows, their first look, their first steps into married life. I won’t lie, the pressure felt real, but it turned out to be the most perfect way to step into wedding photography. It allowed me to be present, to focus on the intimacy of the day, and to create something heartfelt and true to them. And I can say, in the voice of Borat: “great success!” 🥂
One of the things Jessie & Max loved most was the idea of keeping the photography candid. They didn’t want to feel pressured into stiff posing, especially as they had never been in front of a camera professionally before. They handled it so beautifully, leaning into the natural moments, enjoying the day as it unfolded, while I carried on quietly, being a fly on the wall. This approach gave us images that feel completely authentic to them: honest, relaxed, and full of real emotion.
The day itself unfolded beautifully. We began at the iconic Stock Exchange Hotel, where the energy was a mix of calm anticipation and pure excitement. I captured all the little details, the quiet in between moments, and then the magic of their first look, one of my favourite parts of any wedding day. From there, we made our way to the Registry Office for their intimate ceremony, simple and heartfelt, a true celebration of just them.
Afterward, we returned to the hotel with a bit more freedom to get creative. The space itself provided such a timeless backdrop, and it gave Jessie & Max the chance to just breathe, laugh, and soak it all in. Finally, we took to the streets of Manchester, walking hand in hand through the city that had been such a big part of their story. The urban backdrop, the movement, the energy of the city, it all perfectly tied together their city chic wedding.
I was joined by the incredible @thevowsocials, who captured their day through social content with such care and artistry. It was a joy to work alongside them, and I couldn’t recommend them more highly.
Jessie & Max’s wedding wasn’t just a celebration of love, it was a reminder that the most important part of a wedding day isn’t how many guests are there, or how big the plans are. It is about creating a day that feels true to you. And these two did exactly that. ✨
